A Season of Change

To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under heaven… a time to keep and a time to cast away.  – Ecc. 3: 1, 6

Every organization faces staff changes and DBA is no exception. In May, Lora Thomas officially retired after serving 19 years at Denton Baptist Association. You may remember that she retired 5 years earlier, but at the request of Dr. Gary Loudermilk, she agreed to stay on part-time as the Bookkeeper. She has served the Association and its many churches faithfully in a variety of capacities. She went above and beyond when it came to financial issues. She has spent hours researching tax laws, reviewing IRS requirements, and examining church staff salary and compensation packages, as well as a variety of other areas in order to be of service to DBA and our member churches.

She has been a friend and confidant to many, sharing in our joys and our sorrows. She is a friend that sticks closer than a brother. She will be greatly missed by us all, but we wish her the best as she begins this new chapter in her life.

As Lora makes her exit, we gladly welcome Johnson Varghese who will take over the role of Bookkeeper at DBA. Johnson has his Master’s Degree in Accounting and is currently pursuing a Doctorate from UNT in Business Management. He is married, has 2 children and the family attends The Village, Denton. Johnson has worked for Acts 29 and taught school in Irving and Lewisville ISD.

We are delighted to welcome Johnson to the DBA family and look forward to putting to good use his exceptional skills in accounting.
