- ABOUT US
Last year, the Hunger Challenge Project at the Family Gathering was a sight to behold. Brothers and sisters from all walks of life as well as children and adults were laughing, fellowshipping, and enjoying themselves as they participated in helping to reduce world hunger. One local pastor said that this was a remarkable experience for his church because of the way his congregation was encouraged to work as a team to package meals. We are so excited to see what will happen this year.
In 2016, DBA churches packed 66 boxes, which provided over 14,000 meals. The boxes were then transported to an Air Force base and later flown to a non-profit organization based in Asia. After picking up the boxes of food, Christians distributed them to Kurdish refugees in their region.
On Sunday, October 1, we will again be packing boxes for hungry people in Asia. Our goal is to double last year’s efforts and provide close to 30,000 meals. We will not be able to reach this goal without your help and generosity. This year during the Family Gathering, churches and individuals will be able to pack for an hour. The cost per box is $65. Please consider donating and/or volunteering toward the Hunger Challenge Project.
The Family Gathering will be held at Camp Copass. There will be a variety of activities to enjoy in addition to the Hunger Challenge Project. From face painting and bounce houses for the kids, to gaga ball and bazooka ball for the youth, to human foosball and miniature golf for all ages – there is something for everyone! Last year, a DBA church held a baptism service at the pool, so there is no limit to the fellowship we can all enjoy together. We will conclude our Family Gathering with a free meal of hamburgers and hot dogs at 5:00 PM.
