God has recently opened the doors to an exciting new opportunity for ministry and evangelism in Denton County.  CarePortal is a ministry that links local churches with families in crisis in their communities. Partnering with Child Protective Services, CarePortal makes known to participating churches material and financial needs identified by local CPS workers in families with whom they are working. When a church accepts one of these opportunities, you are allowed, even encouraged, to engage with the family and do more than simply meet the material need. You then have the opportunity to walk with this family through their crisis and seek to meet their spiritual needs as well.

Wonderful stories are emerging as to how God is using this ministry in the lives of hurting people and in the lives of those who are participating in the ministry. Recently in Denton County, a lay leader from one of the participating churches delivered baby clothes and diapers to a young mother coming out of homelessness. She was also able to connect the mother to other ministry programs to which her church had access. She further engaged with this mother in helping her to apply for special housing and had the privilege of delivering the keys to the mother personally.

Years ago one of our DBA staff members was always admonishing us that “benevolence is more than writing a check.” She was exactly right, and this ministry offers the church the opportunity to engage hurting people in far more significant ways than merely writing a check. More churches are needed in this ministry so that we can meet all of the needs presented to us by CPS and so that we can link people up with a church that best matches them and their needs. Prayerfully consider becoming a part of this vital ministry. For additional information go to:  https://careportal.org/.
