Serve Together Recap

On Sunday October 7, DBA held the third annual Serve Together Mission Project.  Over 475 people participated packing food during two one-hour shifts.  By the end of the afternoon, 950 hands had packed 150 boxes for a total of 32,400 meals. By working together, we were able to provide food which will be sent to Kurdish refugees in the Middle East.

One of the great things about the day was seeing all the people who were willing to give their time and energy to serve. There were people of all ages who volunteered to pack: from a 4- year old child pouring in dehydrated vegetables to an 80-year old woman pouring in rice.  I saw people of all ages and stages working together for a common cause for the least of these.

In addition to the food that was packed, attendees were given the opportunity to assist Mission Denton with a project. Volunteers decorated paper sacks that will be used during the Christmas season at the Mission Denton Christmas store. Lisa Robertson, the Director of Mission Denton, and those who work with her share the gospel each week at apartment complexes and mobile home parks throughout the Denton Community.

Following the service projects, attendees were treated to free hot dogs and hamburgers.

It was amazing to see our DBA family enjoying the afternoon eating at the new outdoor Café at Camp Copass. It was great to see happy faces and to hear the sound of vibrant conversations. There is truly nothing better than serving together with the body of Christ!
