Hispanic Churches in the New Year
DATE POSTED: 01/23/2020  |     |   Category: Shoulder to Shoulder, Uncategorized

As the year 2020 steadily picks up steam with increasing activity throughout Denton Baptist Association, I amazed and humbled by what God is showing us in Hispanic work throughout many churches across the association.

As soon as the year began, a church that had not given to the DBA before has committed to begin supporting the DBA financially. They have invited our Executive Director to come and preach on how much more we can accomplish together as an association in addition to what we can do as individual congregations.

In another area, God has brought together First Baptist Church Ponder, the pastor of Life Fellowship Church in Denton, and a retired Hispanic couple to partner in beginning a home Bible study in Ponder for Hispanics. I celebrate the fact that First Baptist Denton was the catalyst in providing the contacts for this to occur through its Elves Shelves project!

Later this month we will have four Baptist pastors from Tijuana, Mexico, sharing in four of our Hispanic churches about what God is doing to begin new churches in Tijuana. This should be exciting as we continue to pray for the spreading of God’s Kingdom in that part of the world!

As strong as the year has started off, we have not escaped without some challenges. Please pray for our new church plant in Tioga. We are asking for boldness in witnessing, steadfastness in commitment,  clarity in God’s Word and prayer for new believers.  Also, pray for our church planting couple, Over and Cristina Ochoa, as they lead these believers and witness to their families and friends.

Just as each individual church supports Denton Baptist Association, all of us together can prayerfully support what God is doing in each one of our churches!
