New FSLA Rules that Affect Churches

Churches are not exempt from the Fair Labor Standards Act rules. There are two new rules that go into effect on December 1, 2016 that will impact churches.

  1. Overtime pay for hours worked over 40 hrs. in a work week must be paid at one and one-half time for all non-exempt employees.
  2. New update increases the overtime threshold amount for exempt salaried employees, from the current $23,660 a year (or $455 per week) to $47,476 per year (or $913 a week).
