Training is important in any field, and that is certainly true for the church. The best leaders are trained leaders. This is the purpose behind the Leadership Training Conference on Saturday, August 11 from 8:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. at First Baptist Church, Denton.
The older I get, the more I realize that leaders can become better with age. I remember a pastor friend, who was my mentor, in his 70’s when I was in my 20’s, who modeled the principle, you are never too old to learn. He eagerly read new books, studied new sermons, but also reviewed old sermons. He was constantly learning something new. I recall teachers of small groups who attended leadership training every year even though they had taught for 25 years. They attended because they expected to learn something new. They wanted to be better leaders and knew that in order to do that they needed to receive regular training.
Individuals attending the Leadership Training can anticipate top notch training by some of the best in their field. Classes will be offered for specific age groups and will include preschool, weekday workers, children, youth, and adult sessions. We will also offer special training for those working with Millennials, Generation Z and men’s groups.
I encourage you to set aside Saturday morning, August 11 and plan to participate in the Leadership Training. Why would we not want to be better prepared to handle God’s Word as we share and challenge those He has given us to lead and encourage? Remember the best leaders are trained leaders!
