Part-Time (approximately 15-20 hours per week)

Reports To: Senior Pastor/Advisory Council

Pay: $12,000

Job Summary:

The Youth Director at Gateway United Baptist Church will oversee the youth ministry for middle and high school students, creating a welcoming environment that fosters spiritual growth, community engagement, and discipleship.

Key Theological Qualifications:

  • Be a committed follower of Jesus
  • Believe in a gracious view of the Christian life, not a legalistic one
  • Believe strongly in justification through faith in Jesus, apart from works
  • Not a Calvinist (i.e., understand that God loves everyone, Jesus died for everyone, and He genuinely offers everyone salvation through faith in Him)

 

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Program Development:
  • Design and implement engaging youth programs, including weekly meetings, Bible studies, retreats, and special events.
  • Create a curriculum that aligns with the church’s mission and addresses the spiritual needs of youth.
  • Teach a youth class on Wednesday night and a Sunday school class
  1. Spiritual Leadership:
  • Mentor and disciple students in their Christian faith, providing support and guidance.
  • Lead youth in worship, prayer, and discussions that encourage spiritual growth and understanding.
  1. Volunteer Coordination:
  • Recruit, train, and manage volunteers to assist with youth programs and events.
  • Foster a collaborative environment among volunteers, promoting teamwork and shared vision.
  1. Event Planning:
  • Organize and coordinate youth events, including mission trips, service projects, and social gatherings.
  • Collaborate with other church ministries to promote intergenerational participation in church activities.
  1. Communication and Outreach:
  • Maintain regular communication with youth and their families through phone calls, social media, and personal outreach.
  • Encourage youth involvement in community service and outreach initiatives.
  1. Administration:
  • Manage the youth ministry budget and resources effectively.
  • Maintain records of youth participation, attendance, and spiritual growth.
  1. Collaboration:
  • Work closely with the Senior Pastor and church leadership to align youth ministry goals with the overall vision of the church.
  • Participate in staff meetings and contribute to church-wide planning and initiatives.

 

PERFORMANCE EVALUATION

Performance evaluation of the Youth Director will be the responsibility of the Senior Pastor with

guidance and feedback from the Advisory Council. Performance evaluations for new staff will be

provided at three-month intervals during the first year and annually thereafter.

The criteria for the appraisal session are:

  • Quantity of work
  • Quality of work
  • Work habits
  • Work relationships
  • Self-improvement
