Allow me to share a story that unveils the relentless, divine workmanship of our Heavenly Father, who tirelessly weaves His purpose into the very fabric of our lives. Recently, while serving as a Teller at the Southern Baptist Convention, I posted pictures of the incredible people I encountered. My friend Candy from Mississippi saw the photos and mentioned her pastor was also attending, hoping I would meet him. It seemed an unlikely chance, given the 10,000+ attendees at the convention and my responsibilities. Yet, little did I realize how God’s perfect plan unfolds beyond our human understanding, guiding our steps with divine precision.
The next day, our team was dismissed early, and I decided to seek refuge from the convention hall’s hurried pace with an early lunch at a nearby restaurant. Sitting at one of the lunch tables, a couple from Mississippi decided to sit beside me. We struck up a conversation, and I mentioned I had a friend from Mississippi. When I shared her full name, Candy Warren, and her husband’s name, Mel Cowan, the man suddenly exclaimed, “I know them, I’m their pastor!”
David Haynes, his wife, and I shared an impromptu meal, a moment of genuine connection and fellowship. There’s profound beauty in breaking bread with fellow believers, a reminder of God’s love made tangible through shared fellowship. I am grateful to witness and be a recipient of God’s divine love in action — His hand orchestrating even the smallest details, granting Candy and my heart’s hopes and desires in ways I could never have accomplished on my own.
This experience echoes Romans 8:28, which assures us, “And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.” What may seem like a mere coincidence is, in truth, divine orchestration — an expression of God’s loving care, bringing joy and connection through a Father who is intimately involved in every aspect of our lives.
Pastor Jim Burgin from Grace Street Fellowship often quotes Ephesians 3:18-19 during Sunday worship, which beautifully describes God’s infinite love — “that you…may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled up to all the fullness of God.” (NASB) This passage beckons us to contemplate the immeasurable dimensions of God’s love — vast as the horizon, eternal as the universe, reaching into every corner of our existence, as deep as the ocean’s depths, as high as the heavens.
Every moment, every connection testifies to our Heavenly Father’s unwavering presence and divine purpose. My recent experience at the SBC is a testament to this truth. My prayer is that you, too, will open your heart fully to recognize His work, trust His divine plan, and share His love with others. In doing so, we embrace the fullness of God’s grace and are continually inspired by His eternal love — an infinite love that surpasses all understanding and transforms our lives forever.
