Last month, I paused to reflect on the precious years that lie ahead in this fleeting life, yearning to grasp God’s purpose for me in His Kingdom… not just for this year, but for the remaining years He has graciously granted me. This contemplation has led me on a
profound journey of introspection over the past few weeks. I find myself asking: If I had fully embraced God’s perfect will throughout my life, what remarkable achievements might I have realized for Him? How would the tapestry of my existence appear if I had been more attuned to His divine calling?

I think of the times when I let myself be distracted by selfish, vain pursuits. Have I overlooked opportunities to spend quality time with a friend or to offer a helping hand to someone in need? Have I missed the gentle, divine whispers urging me to serve others, volunteer, or embark on a mission trip? The thought weighs heavily on my heart as I consider the times I may have turned a deaf ear to His call.

I remember the powerful words from Isaiah 6:8, where the Lord asks, “Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?”

My heart swells with a desire to respond as Isaiah did, “Here I am! Send me.”

In Oswald Chambers’ “My Utmost for His Highest Devotional Journal”, the author asserts that God did not explicitly call Isaiah, the prophet, but instead overheard the divine inquiry: “Who will go for us?” I realized that Isaiah must have been so attuned to God and His leading, especially after enduring a great crisis, that the call of God resonated deeply within him. My fervent prayer and aspiration are to cultivate that same level of sensitivity to God’s call.

Is this your prayer and desire, too? Chambers further asserts that whether we hear God’s call depends on the condition of our ears, and what we perceive hinges on our spiritual attitude. God meticulously weaves the threads of His call throughout our lives, and it is up to us to discern them. It’s a beautiful and sacred threading of His voice speaking directly to us about our unique purpose and the needs around us.

So today, my prayer for us is that, if we hear God calling us to aid in a specific church ministry, engage in church planting efforts, or simply share moments with a friend in need of companionship, we will be encouraged to follow His call boldly. I hope we can see and fully embrace the truth that our willingness to respond to His call can spark transformation in our own lives and those around us. I pray that as we begin
This new month, we can step forward with faith, knowing that every small act of obedience can bring about monumental changes in His Kingdom.

I pray that we let each day be an opportunity to align our hearts with God’s purpose and let our lives be a testament to His unfathomable love and grace. I hope that we will never forget that in answering His call, we are part of a magnificent story that extends beyond this life, a story that reverberates into eternity.
