Christmas is a time to celebrate the incarnation. John 1:14 explains, “And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.” Jesus put human clothes, if you will, and was born of a virgin in a manger about 2,000 years ago. The angel said that he came on a mission to “save his people from their sins” (Matthew 1:21). He came to save, but as he came he also dwelled.

In fact, his dwelling was a fulfillment of messianic prophecy (cf. Matthew 1:23 and Isaiah 7:14). But, dwelling was also what marked the beginning in the garden (Genesis 2-3). Dwelling will also mark the end in the New Heavens and New Earth (Revelation 21). God came to us to save us and to dwell with us. Christmas is indeed glorious news.

The model of going and dwelling with the message of salvation is what I see our church planters do day-in and day-out. They are incarnating themselves in a very real sense in order to proclaim the good news of Jesus’ incarnation.

To that end, we have much to celebrate as we close 2024. This year we had 8 brothers finish our cohort training. We have also helped plant 5 new churches. Through your church’s generous support of the DBA we are currently funding 13 church plants. Those figures represent real people reaching real people with the gospel. Praise God!

Finally, we have much to pray about in 2025. By God’s grace we have another 8 signed up for next year’s cohort. Similar to past cohorts, we are delighted at this group’s ethnic diversity. We have also added new instructors to the cohort. This year’s group will be studying the recently released 3.0 version of the Send Network material. This year’s group will also have a cohort with the cohort led by Bryan Galloway that will help our planters whose heart language is not English. We are excited about 2025 and covet your prayers.

Please pray that our planters will go and dwell and tell. Pray they would go to unbelievers in their target areas. Pray that they would embed themselves in their communities and invite their neighbors into their homes. Pray that the Spirit would use them to proclaim Christ day-in and day-out.
