This month I’d like to introduce Brett Clickner. He is one of the six brothers in this year’s Church Planter Cohort. We originally connected with Brett through Pastor Sterling Edwards of Lake Shore Baptist Church in Lake Dallas. I’m also excited to report that the Clickners were recently awarded a “READY” score through the Send Network assessment. They will be planting in southeast Collin County.

Brett has been married to MiKayla since 2012. They have three sons: Colt (7-years-old), Barrett (4-years-old), and Knox (2-years-old). Brett is a graduate of Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. He has a lengthy business and ministry resume, including owning his own business, serving as a student pastor, and currently serving as Associate Pastor at Lake Shore Baptist Church.

Brett explains that our cohort “significantly prepared me for the assessment through its comprehensive approach to training, practice, and development.” He says, “The cohort didn’t just provide information–it created an environment where I could practically apply what I was learning.” He goes on to note, “The cohort equips you not just with knowledge, but with the tools, relationships, and character development necessary to faithfully shepherd a new congregation. Anyone considering church planting would benefit immensely from this level of thorough preparation.”

The Clickners ultimately hope their church glorifies God. Brett goes further to say, “I pray that it would operate from deep biblical conviction, with Scripture guiding every decision, teaching, and practice.” His heart for unbelievers is driving their vision. However, he also has a heart for discipleship. Clickner says, “By the grace of God, I hope this church will be instrumental in drawing unbelievers into a saving relationship with Jesus Christ, while simultaneously growing current believers in their faith and helping them bear fruit that lasts.”

The Clickners are asking for your prayers. Please pray for their family as they step into this intense season of ministry. Brett asks for prayer that they would “continue faithfully following the Lord’s call on our lives, even when the path is difficult.” Please also pray for their needed provisions.

Please contact Brett if you are interested in financially supporting their plant, would like to join their prayer team, or would consider joining their core team. You can contact him by emailing bertclick04@gmail.com.
