This month, I’d like to introduce Jack Tai. He is one of the eight brothers in this year’s Church Planter Cohort. We connected initially with Jack through Bryan Galloway and his contacts with the International Mission Board. As a college student, Jack heard the gospel and was disciplined by IMB missionaries. Before coming to North Texas, he planted a church in Beijing. Jack is married to Lydia, and they have four boys: Caleb (14), Luke (13), Isaac (10), and Joshua (5).

Our Cohort, a transformative training program, equips men like Jack with theology, practical church planting insights, and the core competencies of a church planter from the Send Network. Jack shares, “I am immensely grateful to be part of the DBA/NAMB Cohort. The wisdom I’ve gained from my coach and the Thursday sessions, and the inspiration from the experiences of seasoned pastors and church planters, have been invaluable.” Jack has also been enriched by our monthly lunches and the wisdom shared by our esteemed speakers.

Jack is the visionary behind Joy Chinese Church. He envisions, “We aim to bring the light of Christ to the Chinese Diaspora in DFW through the establishment of missional communities or House Churches.” The church has made a promising start. We are eagerly anticipating the official recognition of Joy Chinese Church as a church plant within the DBA later this year.

Please keep the Tais in your prayers. Email me (micah@dentonbaptist.org) if you would like to meet Jack, have him speak to your missions team, or even preach at your church.
