This month, I’d like to introduce John Williamson. He is one of the eight brothers in this year’s Church Planter Cohort. We connected initially with John through the Send Network. John is married to Sarah, and they have two children, Eli (10) and Naomi (7). John is currently serving as a Church Plant Resident at MacArthur Blvd Baptist Church in Irving. After graduating from Texas A&M, he began a career as a certified public accountant. During that time, he was a lay leader at MacArthur. However, the Williamson also lived for a season in the Minneapolis/Saint Paul region. While in Minnesota, he began a ministry called Kingdom Multiply Network, which has the mission of helping everyday Christians view their work as a mission field. He left the accounting field to return to Texas as the Pastor of Operations at The Heights Church in Richardson.

Our Cohort trains men in theology and practical issues in church planting, as well as the Send Network’s core competencies of a church planter. John says, “I’m excited to grow in competencies necessary to lead a church with other like-minded people.”

John is a great disciple-maker and has ministered to young people and students. The Williamsons will be planting a church serving international students at the University of Texas at Dallas (UTD). John says, “I’m praying the Lord awakens his people to reach the lost, making disciples at UTD, Richardson/North Dallas, and beyond.” A majority of students at UTD are minorities, with a uniquely high percentage of students who are Asian Americans and international students. John has a vision for the nations. He says, “It would be amazing to see international students and others launched to unreached countries to focus on reaching those far from God.”

Please keep the Williamson in your prayers. Specifically, John asks that you pray “that we live and love like Jesus in every area of our lives and help others do the same.” Email me (micah@dentonbaptist.org) if you would like to meet John, have him speak to your missions team, or even preach at your church.
