Introducing Steven Christopher
Micah Caswell
This month I’d like to introduce Steven Christopher. He is one of the four brothers in this year’s church planter cohort. I originally connected with Steven through a friend at East-West Ministries, where Chelsea serves. Previously, Pastor Ron Holton of RockPointe Church had shared that they were praying for a leader to join their staff as Men’s Pastor for a season, then be sent out as a church planter. I felt Steven was a great candidate for that role and connected him with Pastor Ron. Steven has been serving at RockPointe for a number of years, and they are now sending out the Christophers.
Steven and Chelsea have two elementary-aged children, Beau and Bella. Chelsea works for East-West Ministries. Previously, Steven pastored in Las Vegas and served on staff at Bent Tree Bible Church and Fellowship Dallas. He is a graduate of Dallas
Baptist University and Dallas Theological Seminary.
Steven has been in our 2026 cohort. The Christophers completed their Send Network assessment this spring. They are currently developing a core team and have scheduled a series of preview services this fall. Their prayer is to launch The Gate Church in 2027.
When I asked Steven about his heart for the Argyle and Northlake area he said, “Our desire is to see individuals and families engrossed in the pursuit of the ‘American Dream’ discover something greater in finding their place in God’s Kingdom.” Their vision is to be a “Welcome Mat for the new folks moving to the area by helping them get settled in our new community by partnering with local businesses, civic leaders, schools, and HOA organizations.” Steven explains, “as people are finding their place in our community, they will be invited to experience the beauty of God’s Kingdom from congregants of The Gate Church.”
Steven has been key to the success of this year’s cohort. Regarding the cohort he says, “There is so much for me to learn about church planting and this opportunity was one of the best I could take to grow in my knowledge as I glean from experts in the field.” He went on to say, “The most beneficial aspect of the cohort so far, has been honing in on
clarity for the mission and vision of The Gate Church.” Steven recommends the DBA cohort to others, explaining, “This cohort will provide tracks to run on as you discover what God has for you in your church planting journey.”
We are excited about The Gate Church. If you are interested in joining their core team or would like to give, you can learn more at TheGateChurch.org.
