Purpose
To develop a quality worship music program as an integral part of the overall ministry of the church.

Character
This person should demonstrate a consistent spiritual and moral lifestyle in harmony with the beliefs of Highland Baptist Church: model Biblical standards in their own personal life (relationships, devotional life, witnessing, studying, praying, tithing, etc., and to see that these are also modeled in their family life) and set a good example in the areas of relationships, commitment, follow-through and responsible living.

Responsibilities

1. Oversee the entire music ministry of the church.
2. Work with members of Music Committee.
3. Choose music for and direct the adult choir.
4. Schedule and direct weekly and special rehearsals.
5. Select music and direct special groups and solos.
6. Provide training for choirs and musical groups.
7. Recruit new members for the music ministry.
8. Select and coordinate congregational songs with sermon topics and seasonal themes; turn in Order
of Service by set date.
9. Lead congregational singing.
10. Arrange for special music during every regular service—either by adult choir, special musical
groups, soloists, youth or children’s choirs.
11. Maintain musical instruments and arrange for tuning and upkeep.
12. Supervise church pianist, organist, youth and children’s choir directors.
13. Plan and direct Christmas and Easter musicals and other seasonal specials.
14. Coordinate with sound technician as needed.
15. Oversee budget and expenditures for the music ministry.
