Leadership Training Conference – In August, our association hosted its 10th annual Leadership Training Conference at First Baptist Church, Denton. We had over 20 facilitators from SBTC, Texas Baptists, and DBA, who led more than 50 breakout sessions. We registered 341 participants from 26 churches. Some of the evaluations we received were as follows-
– Thank you, and thank God that he allowed each of us to come together, to learn and grow.
– I feel inspired to expand on my learning and become better equipped to share God’s love and the gospel to individuals, small groups and children.
Baptist Student Ministry– Both UNT and TWU’s BSM’s are in full swing. They are each hosting Wednesday free lunches to build relationships and share the gospel. Eric Bean from UNT reports that a young man named Henry came to know Christ at a recent
outreach event.
Serve Together – On Sunday, October 5 our association hosted our 8th food packing event at Camp Copass. We had 421 people from 21 churches who helped to pack over 22,000 meals that will be shipped to South Sudan to a children’s home to feed orphan children and share the gospel. We even had the Denton High School Lady Bronco Basketball team help us. Denton Baptist Association Disaster Relief – Our chainsaw crew has been busy helping on local projects. They have helped homeowners who experienced high wind damage by sawing up trees and getting rid of limb debris.
Consultations – Your Executive Director consulted with a church for the last 6 months that has recently merged with another church. He has also consulted with a church that was in conflict among other things.
Church Planter Cohort – Our association continues to host a bi-weekly cohort to train future church planters to start churches in North Texas. Local pastors use material from the North American Mission Board and their own experience to teach these young men so that they will be better prepared for the challenging task of starting something new. Thank you for giving to our association. Without your gifts we would not be able to provide these kinds of ministries to our churches. You are helping us to make an impact on the community. May God bless you and your church.
