DBA-We’re Here to Help!
Wanda Freeman
I’ve been in the Denton Baptist Association (DBA) office for seven months now, and what a whirlwind it has been! This is a busy office, with so much happening behind the scenes—many things I never knew about during my time as an administrative assistant at a DBA church.
Recently, I had an experience that brought this to life in a very practical way. One of our local churches found itself in a bind when both of its copiers went out of service on a Thursday afternoon. Of course, that’s when it happens—right when you need them most!
When I learned about their situation, I offered our office copier as a resource. They hadn’t even thought about reaching out to DBA. Honestly, if I had been in their shoes, I’m not sure I would have thought of us either!
On Friday, we jumped into action. I met the church staff at our office, and together we copied, printed, and scanned everything they needed to make Sunday’s worship service run smoothly. The congregation never knew about the behind-the-scenes scramble. They simply walked in on Sunday morning and found everything ready as usual.
The church staff was incredibly appreciative, and my response was simple: “This is
what we’re here for!”
One of the purposes for our association is to strengthen churches by helping them and their staff become more effective in reaching people for Christ and making mature disciples. I want to make sure every church in our association knows that the DBA is a resource you can turn to. We want to build relationships, support your ministries, and come alongside you whenever we can. Sometimes that support may look like helping with a copier emergency, and other times it may mean connecting you with resources, ideas, or other churches facing similar challenges.
To help us get to know one another better, I’m hosting an Administrative Assistants’ Luncheon on November 12 at 11:30 a.m. at The Greenhouse in Denton.
I hope you’ll encourage your administrative assistants to join me! I plan to share resources and information about who we are as an association, while also providing an opportunity for administrative assistants to connect, network, and learn from one another.
I look forward to meeting your team members, building relationships, and finding new
ways DBA can serve your church.
Remember, we’re here for you!
